Arcade Fire - Cars and Telephones

It’s a bit late to be writing a post about this song but I can’t help it, I like it too much. Arcade Fire - Cars and Telephones, recorded about seven years ago as a demo, leaked and slowly circulated around the net. The Arcade Fire were taken back when people started requesting for it live, surprised anyone had even heard it. It still stands as one of my favorite Arcade Fire songs, the low-fi recording and the simplicity of the song backs up the honest lyrics about relationships.

Make sure to check out the Arcade Fire this weekend on Saturday Night Live, Feb 24th.

I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Maybe on some b-side vinyl? Does anyone know where this song can be purchased? Or is it strictly a leaked demo?

Cars and Telephones is my fav. song of theirs. I like the version I ripped of of lime wire like 3 years ago better than their live one you posted but it’s cool to see them do it up.

I agree with Sarah.
The first time I ever listened to this song was when my friend sent me the version she’s talking about, and it’s still my favorite song of theirs.

this song is amazing. i downloaded a bunch of arcade fire and at first i didnt even think it was actually AC because it sounds so musically different from their recent releases. definately my fave to date.

i don’t think there are two versions of this song are there? I’ve downloaded this song 30+ times over the years and always end up with the same demo low fi version.I re equed it and put it through a stereo enhancer myself to make it sound better

@nathan

I’ve never come across another version either. Last year (2007 - when this was first posted) I emailed Sarah and asked if she could share the version she’s talking about, with no response. If you ever do come across it, please share. If I do, I’ll send you a email and post it on MTS.

Hey Dustin, let me know how to post songs on your website and you can have it. I went through a bunch of my old mix cd’s and found the song you want.

I really love this song a lot too. It’s in my top 3 AF songs for sure. I’m interested in this other version?
